About company
Karl Friedrich Friesen was, together with Friedrich Ludwig Jahn, a co-founder of the German gymnastics movement. He was born on September 25th, 1784 in Magdeburg. 1807/08 he was an employee of Alexander von Humboldt, from 1808 he worked as a teacher in Berlin. He developed the mathematical, the geographical and the drawing lessons in Pestalozzi's sense. With the establishment of gymnastics, riding and fencing arenas, as well as swimming pools, he promoted the overall physical and physical fitness of young people. From 1811 he was involved in the actions on Germany's first gymnasium on the Hasenheide. As a supporter of the fraternities, he wrote a memorandum in 1812 on the order and establishment of the German fraternities. He joined the Lützow Freikorps in 1813 and fell on March 16, 1814 as Lützow's adjutant in La Lobbe (Ardennes).
