Founded in 1959, Selgros Cash & Carry employs around 4,000 people in Germany and is part of Transgourmet Central & Eastern Europe. As part of a selected international expansion, Selgros also plays a leading role in self-service wholesale in Poland, Romania and Russia. Selgros Cash & Carry offers commercial customers from the catering, retail and other industries a comprehensive full range of food and non-food products. Around 50,000 items are available on sales areas of up to 11,000 square meters, making it one of the largest ranges in German retail. Great variety, freshness expertise and personal advice In addition to a large selection of products, all Selgros stores have trained specialists, especially at the meat counter. The meat experts process their products in their in-house butcher shops according to the tradition of the butcher's trade. As we know about the demands of professionals from the catering trade and retailers, Selgros guarantees pick-up within a maximum of 48 hours after ordering fresh meat, seafood and seafood, but also exotic fruit and vegetables. More than half of the stores also offer delivery to the door. In the market and with customers on site, Selgros relies on personal advice and information about new products and offers from a competent team of specialists. With the three strong own brands Transgourmet Premium, Transgourmet Quality and Transgourmet Economy, Selgros offers its customers high-quality products in different price categories. In addition, the range of products from certified organic production and from fair trade is gradually being expanded. Sustainably oriented markets As a trading and logistics company, it is your responsibility to reduce climate-damaging emissions and conserve valuable resources, this is how Selgros sees itself. All markets in Germany get 100 percent of their electricity from renewable energies (green electricity). As part of the successive modernization of individual stores, only sustainable technology is used - this ranges from the latest cooling system, which is operated with environmentally friendly CO2 as a refrigerant, to complete LED lighting in the sales rooms. Company history The founding of today's company Selgros Cash & Carry was sealed in 1959. As part of a joint venture, the Otto Group Hamburg and the REWE Group in Cologne pooled their cash & carry activities in 1989. At the beginning of 2008, the activities were initially taken over 100 percent by the REWE Group; At the end of 2008, the retail groups REWE Group (Germany) and COOP (Switzerland) agreed to found a new joint venture. Since then, the international cash & carry businesses and food services of the two companies have been bundled under the umbrella of Transgourmet Holding. At the beginning of 2011, the Coop Cooperative took over 100 percent of the Transgourmet Group.
