The Kowloon Hospital provides emergency and extended care services in a number of specialties, and has one of the largest chest and lung specialist centers in Hong Kong. It also provides extended care services for patients recovering from Queen Elizabeth Hospital and United Christian Hospital. Kowloon Hospital is one of the first hospitals in Hong Kong to set up a rehabilitation department. It is also the first hospital to provide a chest rehabilitation program, a psychiatric day hospital for the elderly and a substance abuse clinic. The hospital is currently undergoing refurbishment and reconstruction in stages to provide more comprehensive services to meet the medical needs of the general public.
